Ion Izagirre Insausti is a Basque Country-born Spanish professional road cyclist and cyclocross rider who currently competes for UCI WorldTeam Cofidis. To maintain the right pronunciation under Castilian orthography, he is sometimes referred to as Jon Izaguirre.

Recently, Ion Izagirre recently won the 12th stage of the Tour de France, seven years after his previous Tour stage triumph. He completed a difficult stage from a breakaway – not flat enough for sprinters, but mountainous enough for overall contenders. With around 20 miles to go, he launched an attack on the last of five categorized climbs.

However, during the game, many people noticed the scar on Ion Izagirre's face. As a result, they are being curious to know what really happens to his face that left the scar. Well, here is everything you need to know.

Well, the 34-year-old cyclist has never given any statement about the scar. He has never addressed how and why he got it. As a result, it is hard to make a conclusion about the actual reason behind it.

Regardless, our team has picked 2 possible reasons behind his scar. Firstly, that might be his birthmark. Most of us are born with a birthmark somewhere around our body. However, very few people have it on their faces. And there's a slight chance Ion Izagirre might be one of them.

Similarly, there's a high chance he got the scar from some kind of injury. While there are infinite ways to get injured, we believe it is somehow related to cycling. Since he is a professional cyclist, there's no doubt he might have gotten injuries multiple times.

Nevertheless, we would like to request everyone to note that the given information is solely based on our speculation. However, we will surely get back to you as soon as we get any updates about the scar on Ion Izagirre's face.
