Cameron Young was born in Briarcliff Manor, New York, on May 7, 1997. He is the son of David and Barbara Young, both of whom are active members of the pro golf community. David Young, the director of golf at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, is a golf enthusiast. Barbara Young, on the other hand, is a former golfer who aspired to play in the LPGA. Cameron learned the sport from his parents, particularly his father, who introduced him to it when he was a child. His mother has also been an important part of his game over the years, serving as his caddie, nutritionist, and chauffeur to and from events.

Cameron was gifted academically as well as athletically as a child. He graduated from Fordham Preparatory School, a private college prep school in The Bronx, New York.
