Henry Cavill

Henry Cavill Net Worth: $28 Million.

Our modern-day Superman, Henry Cavill, had quite the joyride leading up to his role of Geralt of Rivia in the novel series adaptation of The Witcher. While the second season is already set to premiere in early 2021 (this might change as with any other date change from Netflix), he's already moved on to two other projects, representing another iconic character, Sherlock Holmes, in Enola Holmes, and voice out Ryan Enright in the video game Squadron 42.

In case you haven't been updated with the Enola Holmes drama, Cavill (pronounced similar to travel or gravel) is NOT the main character of the show. Millie Bobby Brown [Stranger Things] will take on the lead as the younger sister of Cavill's character. So, it's mostly about Enola Holmes' story than the detective himself.

Born on May 5, 1983 [age 37], in Jersey, Channel Islands, as Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill (a really English name), the fascination with acting for him came in his younger days, particularly with the bond he had with Shakespearean plays. He's been the subject of evidently iconic characters in the acting business, so you know he's earning pretty. Take a look at his net worth, there are a lot of things to be discussed.

Despite Henry Cavill's 2020 Net Worth of $28 million, He Was Involved in Only One Project in 2019

As of January 2020, Henry Cavill's net worth amounts to at least an approximate $28 million. Surely, his iconic acting roles will back that. Entry into the DC universe as Clark Kent or Kal-El, an alias for Superman, is not the highest-paid role he's had (just for Man of Steel), but with that, he's been targeting more and more prominent fictional character roles to boost up his career even more.

While it's evident from his portrayal of 'the' Sherlock Holmes, Cavill was involved only in one project last year, The Witcher. But if his past career is anything, he likes to relax for a long time before taking on another project, much is his habit to do one movie or show every year. And while you may think he only started iconic roles in 2013 with Man of Steel, he's been going at it for a long time, going as far back as 2005.

Henry Cavill Salary

For his most recent work, The Witcher, Variety reported that Henry Cavill would earn a salary of $400,000 per episode, bringing the total to $3.2 million for the entirety of the first season on Netflix. That piece, however, was modified to not mention it at all. Plus, there's that war about men and women being paid differently in Hollywood for equally important roles.

Cavill star alongside Anya Chalotra (net worth: $350,000) as Yennefer of Vanderberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and MyAnna Buring (net worth: $4.5 million) as Tissaia de Vries. The first season revolves around Yennefer's struggles to become stronger, Geralt moving from town to town hunting down monsters for money and Ciri in a search for Geralt. Yes, they are yet to meet but it does happen at the end of the season. The second season has already been announced to be released sometime in (presumably in early) 2021.

Cavill's Biggest Projects — Discovered at 17 for the Role of 'Albert Mondego' in 'The Count of Monte Cristo'

The fourth of five sibling-brothers of parents Colin Cavill and Marianne Cavill (née Dalgliesh), Henry moved to Buckinghamshire, England, to study at Stowe School after being privately educated at St. Michael's Preparatory School in Saint Saviour, Jersey.

While at school, his fondness for acting was evident from his involvement in Shakespeare's drama, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and in another one called Grease. He also starred and directed Shakespeare's Hamlet in the BBC documentary 40 Minutes. But acting was not the first thing he thought to do as a career.

In a GQ cover story, he claims he was Fat Cavill as a boy. When you look at what he did for his physique for Superman of Geralt, The Witcher, it's hard to even picture him that way. But he was, indeed, a fat kid with geeky hobbies, embarrassing childhood nicknames, a fondness for fried foods and an incredibly homesick child (the private school was not that great for his emotional weaknesses).

There was one turning point from a life of being an "easy target" at school. When he was 17, he was discovered doing a play by casting directors at school. They were looking for a young boy play Albert Mondego in the 2002 movie, The Count of Monte Cristo. Sure enough, he got it. But the shape-shifting moments started from hereon. When he started the project, he'd lost 21 pounds of weight.

Before The Count of Monte Cristo, his first on-screen appearance was released in Laguna [2001] as Thomas. Unsurprisingly, that was also his first starring role ever. But the memory of his prominent star role goes to Stephen Colley in I Capture the Castle [2003]. Along with that, at 20 years of age, he got more starring roles in Hellraiser: Hellworld [2005], Red Riding Hood [2006] and Tristan & Isolde [2006].

By then, the 37-year-old had already started on TV as well. His first was an appearance in The Inspector Lynley Mysteries episode in 2002, and he followed it up with another one-episode role in Midsomer Murders in 2003. He also went on the TV movie Goodbye, Mr. Chips in 2002.

After a couple of additional smaller movie roles, he moved on to get a breakthrough role of the lead, Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk, with The Tudors in 2007. After four seasons of The Tudors, it was announced on January 30, 2011, that Henry Cavill had been cast as the next Superman in the modern-day DC franchise movie, Man of Steel.

The actor thus became the first non-American actor to play Superman. It was a box office hit after being released in 2013, making a cumulative $668 million worldwide according to current standings, while some people may have preferred a different casting choice. It also became the highest-grossing Superman movie to date and the second-highest-grossing reboot of all time after 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man.

He went on to reprise the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice [2016] and Justice League [2017]. In between, he also starred as Solo in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. [2015], which grossed $107 million in the worldwide charts. Superman also made him the Sexiest Man by Glamour Magazine.

There's still a complete confirmation as to if Henry Cavill is leaving the DC universe altogether. But if the breakdown of contract negotiations for Shazam! and Warner Bros.'s statement is anything to go by, his time in DC is truly over. It still an open discussion to those who need it to be.

Superman vs. Wonder Woman — The Salary Battle with Gal Gadot That Was Way to Conspiratorial Than It Needed to Be

Main article: Superman vs. Wonder Woman — The Wage War for Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot

In June 2017, comparisons were made between the salaries of the two superhero actors, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, due to the vast difference in the amount shown. But it was later resolved after Cavill's payout was unconfirmed since the amount he earned from Man of Steel was not his base salary but a collection of everything one actor can earn from a movie after such a hit. Still, there's no denying wage difference exists (although this was not a relevant case at all).

The Roles That Got Away

There's a question that should come up quite often when it comes to Cavill's fortune — What would his net worth look like if he'd gotten the huge roles that other actor edged him?

Before he was Man of Steel, the actor did try to acquire big roles in his early years, namely James Bond and Edward Cullen. Yeah, you recognize them. In 2005, he was one of the strong contenders, and a young one at that, to be considered for the role of James Bond in Casino Royale [2006], after performing in a final screening test.

As expected, he was too young for it, and the producers gave it to Daniel Craig. But if Craig ever steps out, he said he will go back for the role, and it just might be near. Because you know, Craig announced No Time to Die as his last Bond movie.

If being too young was an issue, it hit him hard the other way around. Twilight author/writer, Stephanie Meyer, based the character Edward Cullen based on Henry in her novels. She lobbied him to play the role (didn't audition though) in the movies, but at the time, he was considered a little older to play a 17-year-old kid. It was eventually given out to Robert Pattinson, of course.

Superman also was already under his radar. He auditioned for the role in the 2006 movie, Superman Returns and was heavily considered for it. Brandon Routh took on the role later. While Empire magazine titled Henry Cavill as "the most unlucky man in Hollywood" in December 2005, the last one did come back around for him. Despite the salary war, his net worth does become as steady as it should be.

Cavill Is Big on Charity Works

Henry Cavill was never involved in the wage-war as he knows there are other things that matter. Good deeds often go unnoticed in the celebrity world, but Cavill has made a strong point to let people know about the things he's done for others. More specifically, he wants us to know there are certain other things to worry about.

Did you know, Henry Cavill would've joined the armed force had he not chosen acting as a career path? He said he wanted to fulfill his patriotic pride. He even participated in the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) training program during his time at Stowe School. Moreover, his older brother Lieutenant Colonel Nick Cavill serves the Royal Marine who is an MBE honoree.

With all the connections, he took a step forward himself. He is now an ambassador for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund since 2014.

In addition to the RMCTF, Cavill also became an ambassador for the wildlife trust, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, the same year. He's been constantly active with the foundation that is close to his heart as he recalled his days of visiting the zoo when he was young and is involved in the Durrell Challenge every year.

With Durrell, he also introduced the Durrell Index, which he hoped would be an industry-standard in wildlife preservation. "To celebrate, on the 28th of January we launched a suite of indicators that show, graphically, exactly the effect we can have on the world – for its animals," he posted a message on his charity website he formed after joining them. "It's called 'the Durrell Index', and we hope it will become an ‘industry standard’ as it were, for conservationists to benchmark against. That will hopefully drive and support more conservation work, and show people that there is still hope…that it's not too late to make a difference for nature."

The website, Cavill Conservation, is apparently under maintenance right now. But he hasn't stopped working with them.

Cars, Yep

Another thing Cavill enjoys is riding. Not just a car though, his obsession for bikes is also unmatchable.

He's always been fascinated by cars. After about a couple of years of entering into the acting world, his first vehicle was the Peugeot 306 GTI limited edition. After his breakthrough role in The Tudors was complete, he took his dad to a car showroom. That was when he spent his first big paycheck, he revealed in a The Graham Norton Show episode in 2018.

Cavill and his father were looking for an Audi A8 at the showroom, but the father was looking at an Aston Martin DBS for longer than usual. After asking his dad, "Can I afford that?", Cavill got it. He was still driving the Peugeot at the time.

By the time Cavill was selected to be part of Mission: Impossible—Fallout [2018], he only had a Bentley Bentayga and didn't have a motorcycle license. Of course, he needed it for the movie. But when the movie production helped him learn a bike, he got hooked into it.

He eventually got the license after passing all three parts of the driver’s test into one day. Then he treated himself to a Ducati XDiavel S while his eyes were fixated on Ducati Multistrada Enduro Pro. He also got an Enduro because "it is so sexy".

When he was on the cover of the Summer 2015 issue of Goodwood magazine, he also got to take the BMW i8 for a spin and was absolutely in love with it. He doesn't possess it though. But he did obtain a Mclaren MP4 12C Spyder at one point or another.

While it may not be affirmed that he owns some of these cars, he was also photographed alongside a Roll Royce Wraith, a Mercedes E Class, Cadillac XTS, and Ferrari 458 Spyder. Taking those into account would rake his car collection's worth to be around $1 million.

The guy has residences in the States as well as the UK. He did talk about a house in South Florida, where he lives with his huge dog, Kal-El, named after his character in Man of Steel.
