While you might expect a reality star’s net worth to be pretty decent, Porsha Williams does not have as much as she deserves. She is known for her appearances on Bravo TV’s ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and ‘Dish Nation’. Learn how the divorce from Kordell Stewart and brushes with the law dearly cost her her fortune.

Porsha Williams is a household name in Bravo TV and Atlanta, best known for her appearance in The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Her participation in Bravo TV’s Dish Nation and NBC’s The New Celebrity Apprentice are equally recognized. But she didn’t start out that way.

Born on June 22, 1981, in Atlanta, she wanted to be a model, but one thing led to another, and she ended up in reality TV. She’s actually not married but was at one point. She entered the reality TV with The Real Housewives of Atlanta after her wedding.

The aforementioned ‘one thing’ was meeting NFL Quarterback Kordell Stewart with the wedding broadcasted on Platinum Weddings in 2011. But it all fell apart, and though she continues to do reality TV, her net worth seems to be a little in the back. The hassles with the law cost her the fortune.

Porsha Williams Has a Surprisingly Low Net Worth of $200,000 for a Reality Star

It looks to be modest on the surface that Porsha Williams has a net worth of $200,000 as of November 2019. Much of the wealth is attributed to her work in The Real Housewives of Atlanta from 2012 and Dish Nation from 2014, which she currently does on Bravo TV. She also released her first and only track Flatline on iTunes in 2014. In addition, she launched her own line of hair care products called Naked Hair and also featured in Kandi Burruss‘ musical, A Mother’s Love in 2013. She finished eighth on The New Celebrity Apprentice, eighth and final installment of The Celebrity Apprentice, in 2017.

In her early years, she started her pursuit of modeling with a few music video appearances. She was a business information technology major student in college, which led her to do some of her own. She worked in furniture sales at Rooms-to-Go, for the disease control and finally opened a childcare center at the age of 24. She was working in the Luckie Lounge when she met her ex-husband in the late 2000s and then entered the reality TV scene.

Tough Luck on the Divorce, She Got Practically Nothing

After the marriage between Porsha Williams and Kordell Stewart was featured lavishly in Platinum Weddings in May 2011, she got a chance to enter into the fifth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2012. We’re not digging into all those feuds that celebrities inadvertently have on a reality TV show because those have little (like the charity event clash with Kenya Moore) to nothing to do with her wealth. But her personal life had a huge impact, in an opposite sense anyhow.

In March 2013, Kordell filed for divorce with a claim the marriage was irretrievably broken. Porsha was blindsided by it after she had already updated her maiden name to Porsha Williams Stewart. He further claimed he doesn’t have to pay any spousal support or divide his $16 million net worth due to a prenuptial agreement and the short length of the marriage. He ended up getting his way as Porsha got absolutely nothing.

After the divorce finalized a year later in March 2014, Kordell kept the two houses, a Mercedes and a Porshe, and his complete business interests and investments. During their marriage, Porsha had suffered from miscarriage due to fibroids. Don’t get Kordel confused with another Stewart, Todd Stewart, who she dated later from January 2017. It was rumored to be fake and part of her show’s script since they were friends for a long time.

Problems with the Law and IRS — Paid in Full

You might think a reality TV star should have more than just $200,000 in the banks. You’re thinking right, but Porsha’s fortune is relatively unflattering, all because of her money problems.

In 2013, the 38-year-old’s net worth was listed as $16 million, possibly due to the divorce being in place, but it dropped to $500,000 after it was finalized. After the separation, she owed $18,000 on homeowners fees. She was also demoted to just a friend in The Real Housewives of Atlanta in its seventh season but got back higher the next year.

Earlier in April 2019, the mother-of-one was made aware of the $240,624 that she owed the IRS in unpaid taxes of the years 2009 to 2017 ($197,000 for 2017 alone). She was fully unaware of it and was threatened to have her properties seized. But she claimed she’d taken care of the problem later that month, while IRS had no paychecks received. She had just had her first child, Pilar Jhena, with now-boyfriend, Dennis McKinley, a month earlier in March.

Finally, the couple was reported to have paid the taxes in full in September, 2019. They cashed in a total of $268,470, including the $27,846 lien issued by the Georgia Department of Revenue. On a positive note, she did promote the charity event for the homeless in December 2018 and donated $10,000 to Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless charity in August 2017.

After reports of the breakup with Dennis, she seems to be showing resolve in proving the doubters wrong. While all the problems came and went, the future should have something planned for increasing her piles of green.
